Congratulations to the VFI members who featured in The Sunday Business Post top ‘101 Great Irish Restaurants 2018’. Alongside numerous restaurants the feature also recognised pubs who serve exceptional food to customers.
The 32-page supplement highlights pubs and restaurants that cater for every occasion, from Michelin star restaurants to hotels and seafood pubs. The food and drink industry in Ireland is currently undergoing a revival and in 2017 about €2 billion was spent on food and drink by overseas visitors. The feature is a real celebration of Ireland’s finest restaurants and pubs.

Cronin’s Bar, Crosshaven, Cork
A family owned traditional Irish pub hailing from Crosshaven in South Cork. Cronin’s has won numerous food accolades and specialising in seafood cuisine. Its well know as being a popular lunchtime destination with lots of local seafood treats including chowder, mussels and oysters.
The Sunday Business Post refers to Cronin’s as ‘One of Ireland’s great pubs’ and ‘delightfully cosy in the depths of winter’.
Mount Juliet, Kilkenny
Michelin star restaurant Lady Helen in the exquisite Mount Juliet Estate in Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny also featured as part of the 101 Great Irish Restaurants.
With some recent decor changes, The Lady Helen Restaurant offers a unique and elegant dining affair. They offer a signature nine course tasting menu with wine pairing is a must for those who want to experience the highlights of the Lady Helen culinary offer.
Knockranny House Hotel, Westport, Mayo
La Fougère Restaurant at Knockranny House Hotel on the outskirts of Westport has won multiple awards and also makes an appearance on the top 101.
The Sunday Business Post praises head chef, Seamus Commons for his ”elegant cooking” technique. La Fougère also made the ‘Top 10 Wine list’ for their selection of excellent wines (300 to be exact!) with high praise from wine critic, Tomas Clancy. Eating at La Fougère is all about relaxed fine dining, great food chosen from local producers and fruit & vegetables grown in Knockranny’s gardens.
Cliff House Hotel, Waterford
“The Cliff House Hotel and its Restaurant are a Rolls-Royce of Irish hospitiality,” says The Sunday Business Post.
Perched on the cliffs of Ardmore, Co. Waterford the award-winning restaurant at the Cliff House Hotel attracts foodies from all over the world.
