Roddy Doyle’s latest play, Two Pints, is continuing its sold out run across the pubs of Ireland after a successful national launch in The Village Inn, Kilkenny, last Wednesday.
The play, which is sponsored by the VFI, is being staged in VFI member pubs as part of the Abbey Theatre’s commitment to bring the theatre out of Dublin.

Audience reaction has been extremely positive with the two-hour show receiving an enthusiastic response from those watching the show in Kilkenny.
Local publican and VFI President Pat Crotty was in the crowd for the national launch. “It’s a great idea to bring the theatre into pubs,” he said. “As a Federation we’re delighted to be involved with the production.”
One of the show’s main themes is friendship and how the pub acts as a meeting place for people to socialise.
VFI CEO Padraig Cribben said: “Two Pints is an authentic representation of what is provided by pubs. Consumer trends may come and go but at the heart of the Irish pub is hospitality and the chance to meet family and friends in a safe environment. Socialising is what our pubs are all about.”
Two Pints is playing in VFI member pubs throughout Ireland
Roddy Doyle said ‘When I wrote Two Pints, I didn’t envisage it being performed in a pub, but it is part of the adventure. This new play is being put on in a context that is unfamiliar and that excites me.’
