The VFI has been contacted by a resident in Dublin with the following call for assistance:
“My husband had a vintage bicycle stolen on Wednesday 4th May, outside a house on Sandford Road, Ranelagh. As this bike is quite distinctive, we reckon we won’t see anyone cycling it around Dublin and that whoever stole it might try to sell it to a pub as a curiosity ornament to sit outside a pub.
I am sending you a photo of the bike in the hope that you could put it on your website and if any of your members are approached and offered this bike that you or anyone who might see it contact either us or the Gardai in Donnybrook (01 666 9200).
The bike is of huge sentimental value to my husband, who cycled home from Denmark on it 25 years ago and has renovated it himself since then. He uses it every day as a workhorse for carrying heavy loads, bags of coal, bags of cement, cylinders of gas, even me from time to time! Any help at all you can give with this would be enormously appreciated and we have also offered a reward.”
So if you happen to see the bike or are offered it for sale, you might make contact with VFI Head Office and we can put you in touch with the owner.
