Irish charity GOAL, supported by the VFI, is running a World Cup Sweepstakes during this summer’s tournament to raise funds for vital projects around the world.
The World Cup will dominate TV coverage throughout June and July so GOAL is calling on publicans to take advantage of this interest and enter the Sweepstakes. To enter click HERE
GOAL is currently working in 13 countries across the world. Without events such as the World Cup Sweepstakes, they would find it far harder to support those people who are affected daily by conflict, hunger and poverty.
With millions facing food insecurity, malnutrition and disease across East Africa, GOAL is implementing life-saving nutrition programmes aimed at preventing, detecting and treating severe and moderate acute malnutrition, and ensuring drought-affected communities have access to clean water. Part of this work sees GOAL support thousands of women and children at two camps home to 120,000 South Sudanese refugees at Gambella in western Ethiopia, while more than 12,000 Eritrean refugees are directly benefitting from GOAL’s nutrition and water programming in the Afar region in the north of Ethiopia.
GOAL has been a leading humanitarian actor in Syria since 2012, with millions of people benefitting from their work over the past five years. Thanks to GOAL’s current programmes, more than 550,000 people have access to clean drinking water every day; 250,000 people receive food vouchers and food kits each month; 600,600 people can purchase bread at stabilized prices every day; while families who are forced to flee their homes because of the ongoing conflict can avail of critical emergency support.
