Congratulations to the Fifteen VFI members who received recognition in Michelin’s recently published Eating Out in Pubs Guide for 2018. Thirty Irish pubs in total were acknowledged for serving high quality food, twenty-two are based in the Republic of Ireland, while eight are in Northern Ireland.
It is a great achievement for all of our members to be featured and used by visitors at home and overseas alike to plan their trips in advance.
This year’s guide recommends 470 top dining pubs spread in Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales of which 27 are new entries and all of which are selected for the standard of their food.
VFI member, Morrissy’s Pub in Doonbeg was also recently awarded the Bib Gourmand recipient listed in the guide. The Bib Gourmand recognises establishments that offer exceptional food at affordable prices of €40 or less. Hugh McNally, the owner of Morrissey’s said:
“It’s fantastic for us to be included in the bib, and in the guide again. We’re very proud of Adrian the chef and the kitchen team.”
Speaking at the launch of the newest edition of the guide, Editor Rebecca Burr said:
“This year we have seen so many pubs get a new lease of life by placing greater emphasis on food. It’s great to see pubs being rejuvenated this way as they are often the heartbeat of our towns and villages. We are increasingly witnessing how pubs can provide a platform for young chefs to start their own businesses, and how inventive these chefs can be, particularly when it comes to the sourcing of their ingredients.”
